Bronwynn Sprogowski

Often compared to the swinging singers of the 40’s and 50’s, Bronwynn will be showcasing the music of her favourite vocalists in her first performance at the Perth International Arts Festival stage at York.

Standards from artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McCrae, Sarah Vaughan, Mel Torme and many more will be performed for your listening pleasure.

Bronwynn Sprogowski loves swinging jazz so much she formed her own quintet in 1996. Bronwynn is a proud graduate from the prestigious and internationally recognised Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts.

What a ride Bronwynn has had so far?!  Bronwynn has sung support for likes of George Benson, Shirley Bassey, Roberta Flack.  Bronwynn has also sung alongside exceptional talents such as  Lionel Hampton, Frank Foster, Don Burrows, James Morrison, Tommy Emmanuel, Daryl Somers, Grace Knight as well as American Jazz vocal legend, Mark Murphy.

In 2001, Bronwynn was fortunate enough to be asked to tour with the Country Arts sponsored tour of W.A, presenting the “Billie Holiday Music Story”, with vocalists Libby Hammer and Tina Kemp and recorded a CD with the rest of the Billie Holiday touring cast.

In the interim years, as well as marrying fellow musician Mark and raising her gorgeous family of three, Bronwynn and her various groups have performed many times throughout Western Australia and internationally (USA, UK and NZ). Some examples are: Ronnie Scotts (UK), Wigan Jazz Festival (UK), * The Perth International Arts Festival, The Joondalup Festival, as well as Perth’s leading Jazz clubs.

Bronwynn is the daughter of a successful musician and, like her father before her, believes it is important to mentor aspiring performance musicians and vocalists.  She has embarked on following his legacy through her various stints teaching at WAAPA, in secondary schools and at her studio situated in the picturesque hills overlooking Perth.
